Kearney School District is proud to announce that Dr. Angie Currey, KSD’s assistant superintendent of special programs, has been named the 2017 MO-CASE Outstanding New Special Education Administrator. Currey has 16 years of experience in PreK-12 education, and began her role as the district’s assistant superintendent in 2015.

Dr. Bill Nicely, superintendent, shared that within her first year of working at the district level she was nominated by her peers as the president elect for the Kansas City Local Administrators in Special Education (KC-LASE).

Currey is leading an initiative to begin a mentoring and professional learning community with neighboring districts to focus on current needs in the special education classroom. She was also recently named as an adjunct professor for special education with Baker University’s graduate leadership program.

“She will make a wonderfully positive impact on the future leaders in the field and help teach others how special education should be implemented in schools,” Nicely said. “We are thrilled to see her hard work being recognized by such an outstanding organization.”

The MO-CASE Outstanding New Special Education Administrator Award is presented to a special education administrator who:

    administration and,
