UAW/GM Strike: KSD Support Services

NewsComments Off on UAW/GM Strike: KSD Support Services

Bulldogs,

We realize many of our students’ families may be facing hardships due to the United Auto Workers’ (UAW) strike against General Motors. There is nothing more important to us than the continued welfare of our students, so we want to take this opportunity to reach out to our district families to let you know about ways in which the Kearney School District would like to help.

If a family member’s employment is impacted by the strike, your family may be eligible for meal benefits. Please complete the Meal Application Form and return it to school. If you need assistance completing the form, please contact the District Social Workers at 816-628-2651.

We also have benefits available such as Harvester’s Backsnacks for PreK-Grade 7 students and the KMO Kanteen (food pantry) available for students at the secondary level. Please contact your child’s school counselor if your family is experiencing a need for food at home.

Please be sure to visit the Family Support Resources page of our website where we have several community and area organizations listed which may be able to meet your needs as well.

These support services are available to KSD families throughout each school year. For questions or additional support needs contact your school counselors or district social workers.

For ALL of Bulldog Nation: If you, your business, or organization are interested in helping students in the Kearney School District now with unpaid lunch balances or with the KMO Kanteen, please reach out to the school district at 816-628-2651.
